This is the story of sweet Rosalee Futch (Kate Bosworth), an ordinary southern girl living in Frazier's Bottom, West Virginia, who works at a Piggly Wiggly grocery story with her best friends Cathy (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Pete (Topher Grace).  They are a constant threesome and love going to the movies where Rosalee dreams about meeting her all-time favorite movie star, Tad Hamilton (Josh Duhamel), with her picture of Tad being the same as the roles he plays.  Pete has excelled as the manager of the store and has the chance of furthering his career but first he must tell Rosalee how he feels about her.  Before this happens Rosalee enters a contest to which the recipent wins a date with Tad Hamilton, and, of course, she wins the dream date in Tinsletown.
The reason for the contest in the first place is to try and transform Tad's bad press about his wild life back to the popular boy next door which is a scheme thought up by his agent, Richard "The Driven" Levy (Nathan Lane) and his manager, also named Richard "The Shameless" Levy Sean Hayes.  The joke being that Richard Levy is as common in Hollywood as John Smith is.
Tad Hamilton's date with Rosalee makes him realize what he's missing in his life and he shows up at the Piggly Wiggly just as Pete is going to lay out his feelings for Rosalee.  Too late, maybe?  Of course, Rosalee is flattered with the attention from Tad especially when he buys a farm outside of town, but with the popularity of the media attention from the primary date, Tad's popularity gets a new spark and he is offered a role that he has been dying to play and forgets Rosalee for the moment but to make up for it, he asks her to go with him to Hollywood.
Knowing this might be his last chance at getting Rosalee, Pete finally tells her of his feelings and seals it with a kiss which leaves Rosalee having doubts.  This is where I leave you to find out by seeing the movie.
It was a romantic bit of fluff which reminds you of Legally Blonde, Pretty in Pink or if you're older, the Sandra Dee's movies in the 50's.  You have the option of this light-hearted movie making you feel good as you leave the theatre without wearing you out with fights, car races or etc.  If you're a woman, you will just enjoy looking at Josh Duhamel. Gennifer Goodwin is a breath of fresh air, Topher Grace's role is so sincere but Lane and Hayes will make you laugh.  Enjoy.
